The Naked Face is a story written by Steve Beard and Jeff Noon as part of their Mappalujo project. The story’s roots lie in a shared exploration of narrative episodes via email. We then worked on the results together, face to face, to create the final piece. Certain aspects of the main character and his quest reminded us of the Twilight Zone, so we headed in that direction. This old-fashioned feel plays against the darkness of the present day subject matter.
A story written for a Brighton Festival event called Brighton Moments. It was supposed to be an evening of different writers reading out true stories from the city. A method of remixing text, with manual instructions, alternative techniques and real-time examples. For lovers of dub fiction and liquid language.
